Two Great Concerts in June !

March 2013 Newsletter

2013 has gotten off to a very good start. We had our regular Metro 4th Saturday sings in January & February and both programs went well, they were a real blessing to those who attended.
On January 26th we had "Harbor of Grace" from Oklahoma City and "Stable Rock Gospel" from Yukon Ok.

In February we had Bill & Joan Cox, the Founders of 4th Saturday Gospel Sing.  That first sing was held on a used Car lot on South Shields in 1995.  Also on February's program were some new faces... a young Lady named "Patty Scarberry", "Barri Bates Coss", "The Revelation Singers" from North Richland Hills Texas, and our very own OKC Native American Group the  "Masters Touch".  We had a little problem with sound equipment but the programs were still very good.

Speaking of sound equipment we are working on the possibility of using the host Church sound system which would eliminate having to set up equipment each month.  That should take care of the problems we have had in the past.  Each Church is different in Design and acoustics.  That presents a problem when the groups have to tune the sound to match a different facility each time.  The church system is tuned to that church which should be a lot better.

OUGMA has a total of 21 Concerts scheduled for 2013 in 5 different Churches in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Mustang, and Yukon.  We hope to see you at a program in your area.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Churches who are willing to support OUGMA by allowing us to use their Facilities.  With their support we are able to do our programs on a Love Offering Basis so everyone can attend regardless of their finances.  The Love Offerings allow us to continue bringing Good Gospel Music to Oklahoma.  OUGMA is a 501 (c) (3) Corporation so your contributions are Tax Deductible.

We have a number of things planned for this year that we hope will help get the word out about the Singing each month.  We have already changed our start times for all future programs.  If the Program is on a week night we will start at 7:00pm.  All Saturday Programs will start at 6:00pm.  This will make it possible for us to do a 2 1/2 hour program and still be out by 8:30pm on Saturday Evening.  We hope in the near future to incorporate Video as a part of our programs in order to do close ups of the artists as well as advertising of future programs.  Over the past few weeks we have been making changes to our web-site.  Hopefully when we are finished you will be able to go to our web-site and click on one of our groups names and see a copy of their full singing schedule which will help you to keep up with your favorite Group or Soloist.

We are currently looking for some corporate sponsors which would allow us to bring in some nationally known talent occasionally.  Even though we have talented members in OUGMA that are every bit as good as any of the nationally known groups or soloists it seems that people are just not willing to support them as well.  We've got to remember that at one time those national groups were once locals too, who had the talent, but not the following.  We have several groups in OUGMA that are traveling all over the US and Canada as well as several foreign Countries.

Until next time may God Bless and keep each and every one of you, and God Bless America.
